NP sweeps doubleheader
CLAYTON -- North Putnam swept a doubleheader from Cascade Tuesday night. The Cougars defeated the Cadets 5-3 in game one and 5-2 in the nightcap.
In game one, pitcher Taylor Judy was dominant for the Cougars, striking out 14 batters in a complete game. She allow three runs on four hits and two walks.
For the offense, Ashley Doyle led the way, with three hits, a double, a triple and an RBI. Logan Doyle had two hits, a double and an RBI. Judy had two hits with a double. Ashley Curry had a double and an RBI. Dakota Malayer also drove in a run.
In game two, Judy went six innings, allowing two runs on six hits and no walks. She struck out 10.
Elsiana Crosby had two hits with a double. Carlye McGaughey had a pair of RBIs.
"In both games, North Putnam had good defense to back up Taylor's pitching," Cougar coach Jim Brothers said.
