Virginia Fay Allenbaugh, 87, of Reelsville, passed away May 3, 2008 at St. Vincent Clay Hospital.

She was born July 19, 1920 in Clay County, Ind., the daughter of Thomas F. and Sarah Jane (Tucker) Jackson.

Virginia and Frank Allenbaugh were married on Oct. 9, 1942.

She graduated from Gerstmeyer High School, and graduated from nursing school in 1942.

Over the years she worked as a nurse in the offices of Dr. Bronson, Dr. Alt, and Dr. Menke.

In 1997 she received the Florence Nightingale Award from Indiana State University for her years of distinguished service to the people of the Wabash Valley.

She enjoyed cooking, fishing, gardening of flowers and plants, hunting mushrooms and walking in the woods.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Cleo, Dale, Clyde, and Paul Thomas Jackson; and one sister, Wanda Royse.

She is survived by her husband, Frank Allenbaugh, two sisters, Audrey White and Madonna Steward, nieces, nephews and extended family.

Services will be Monday, May 5, 2008 at 3 p.m. at French Funeral Home with visitation from 1-3 p.m.
