ST. LOUIS -- The top-ranked Tiger softball team split the final regular season doubleheader of the season as they defeated 16th-ranked Washington University by a 4-1 score in eight innings in the first game and dropped a 1-0 decision in the nightcap.

Ashlee Anton's bases loaded, two-out double in the top of the eighth of the opener lifted the Tigers to the extra-inning win. Washington took a 1-0 lead in the sixth after Lindsay Cavarra's infield single scored Ashton Hitchcock from third.

DePauw knotted the score at 1-1 in the top of the seventh when Rachel Gill led off with a single, moved to second on Anton's sacrifice bunt and scored on Kelly Schwerzler's single.

Carolyn Bartlett totaled two of DePauw's seven hits, while Kerry Kreitman, Amy Vukovich and Kaylyn Eash each had two of the Bears' nine hits.

In the nightcap, Vukovich singled in the fourth and scored on Cavarra's double to left for the game's only run.

Brianne Weeks and Lauren Rees each had one single for the Tigers who couldn't take advantage of six bases on balls and left nine runners stranded. Kreitman and Cavarra each had two of the Bears' six hits.

DePauw's Megan Soultz and Washington's Claire Voris each pitched a pair of complete games with Soultz moving to 33-2 on the season and Voris, 14-5.

With the game-one victory, Soultz picked up her 52nd career win and broke the DePauw record of 51 held by Darcy Vannatta (1999-2002). The loss in the nightcap snapped DePauw's winning streak at 37 and Soultz's at 33.

The complete NCAA bracket will be available today.
