Tuesday, May 6, 2008

The bravery and sacrifice of Indiana State Police will be recognized in a ceremony this week.

On Wednesday at 11 a.m., the public is invited to see the brief ceremony at the Putnamville State Police Post. The ceremony will include the reading of the roughly 45 names of the officers who fell in the line of duty, taps and a horse with backwards shoes to recognize those fallen.

Sergeant Rich Myers, public information officer, said, "This event will be pretty emotional and moving."

The public is invited to the memorial service that is expected to be between 30 and 45 minutes long. People are urged to remember that parking is limited at the Putnamville division of the Indiana State Police.

All inquires should be directed to Myers at (800) 225-8576.
