IHSAA softball action opens Monday and runs throughout the week. The four Putnam County squads will all be in action at either South Vermillion's Class 3A Sectional 29 or Tri-West's Class 2A Sectional 46.

At South Vermillion, Greencastle will take on third-ranked Edgewood in Tuesday's second game. The first game, between West Vigo and Owen Valley, is slated to begin at 6 p.m., with the Greencastle/Edgewood matchup to follow.

In their first meeting this year, the Mustangs defeated the Tiger Cubs (13-8) 12-2.

The winners of the two games will play each other in Wednesday's second game.

At Tri-West, Cloverdale takes on Speedway in game two on Monday. Game one between Covenant Christian and Tri-West begins at 5:30 p.m.

The Clovers (6-11, as of Tuesday) and Sparkplugs split their two meetings this year.

The winners will face off at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

On Tuesday, North Putnam plays Cascade at 5:30 p.m. In a doubleheader last month, the Cougars (13-9) swept the Cadets, winning 5-3 and 5-2.

South Putnam will face Monrovia in the game that follows. The Eagles (17-3) swept both meetings with the Bulldogs this season. They won 5-4 on April 14 at home and then won 10-2 on April 15 at Monrovia.

The winners of these two games will face off in Wednesday's second game.

The sectional championships for both sectionals are scheduled for Thursday, with the Tri-West game beginning at 6 p.m. and the South Vermillion game scheduled for 7 p.m.
