Clover golf splits match at home

CLOVERDALE -- The Cloverdale golf team split a triangular match at Clover Meadows Wednesday, falling to Terre Haute South 152-174, but finishing far ahead of White River Valley's 242.

The Braves' effort was tough to compete with, as all four of their scorers tied for medalist honors with at 38. The Braves' number one JV player even fired a 38.

Michael Glassburn was just behind the crowd at 39, but his teammates were all far behind.

"Michael had a decent round, but we are not giving him a lot of help," Clover coach Doug Wokoun said.

"We are really grinding right now," he added. "We are not always making good decisions in our shot making, and some fundamental aspects of the game have gotten away from us."

The Clovers' Chris Arnold and Keith Hathorn were next, each shooting a 45. Blake Witt closed out the scoring with a 46.

With golf sectional approaching on Monday, the Clovers have some work to do in the next few days.

"We have one more opportunity to get things squared away with South Putnam before the sectional. We have a lot of things to work on in a short time," Wokoun concluded.

For the JV, Jeff Williams led the way with a 51 as the Clovers lost to the Braves, 164-214.

Cloverdale (11-7) travels to Oak Ridge to take on South Putnam today.
