Frank Alex, 88, of Bedford, died Monday, June 2, 2008 at Bliss House in Bedford.

Born Feb. 4, 1920, in Maywood, Ind., he was the son of Mike and Hazel (Kugelman) Alex. He married Rose Nevejean (Conklin) Alex on Aug. 17, 1937, and she survives.

A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he later worked as manager of Office Services, Eli Lilly and Company, Lafayette, before retiring.

He was a member of First Christian Church of Naples, Fla.

Additional survivors include three daughters, Sue Kellams and husband Jack, of Bedford, Judith Ertel and husband Tom, of Carmel, and Janie Lower and husband Norman, of Tampa, Fla.; a sister, Janet Gray, of Plainfield; two brothers, Pandily Alex and wife Martha, of Danville, and Charles S. Alex and wife Jenny, of Coatesville; eight grandchildren, 16 great-great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lena Neihaus and brother Chris Alex.

Services are 1 p.m. Friday at Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale, with Rev. Robert Dailey officiating. Burial will follow at Clayton Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
