Champion Cougars lead WCC with four selections
The All-West Central Conference baseball selections were just released to the media and Putnam County teams did well with 11 all-conference selections for 2008.
The North Putnam Cougars won their fourth-consecutive WCC title with a 10-2 record in 2008. Coach Norm Fish's squad led all schools with four All-WCC selections. Three seniors made the list in shortstop/relief pitcher Kyle Rooker, center fielder J.T. Francies and pitcher/catcher Jordan Berry. Junior Griffen Dahlstrom, who served as a pitcher, catcher and utility infielder, also made the grade.
Coach Troy Greenlee's Greencastle team finished third in the WCC at 7-5 and had three players on the team. These were senior shortstop Jeremy Hayden, junior pitcher/first baseman Kyle Nobles and junior pitcher Trey Ford.
South Putnam finished in a tie for fourth with a 6-6 WCC record. Coach Harold Campbell had three players on the list. Senior second baseman Adam Hammond, junior pitcher/first baseman Noah Boswell and sophomore shortstop Cameron Chestnut made the squad.
It was a rough year for Tim Savini's Cloverdale squad, as they finished 1-11 in the conference. However, junior pitcher/shortstop Josh Flory made the all-conference team for the Clovers.
