July 5 concert to benefit flood victims

TERRE HAUTE -- Flood waters, most of which have now receded, have significantly affected many families and businesses in the Wabash Valley.

The financial burden of the clean-up efforts and support of those families who are struggling to find housing, food, and clothing is significant due to a lack of flood insurance for many areas affected.

It is with this in mind that some musicians "banded" together and decided to help out in their own way.

In all, 639 families have been helped by the American Red Cross as of June 22 in connection with the recent flood related disaster.

Also, $432,629 has been obligated to date to assist those affected.

All American Red Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible by voluntary donations of time and money from the American people.

Several bands from the local and regional area have joined forces to help raise money for the American Red Cross. The benefit concert will be held July 5, 2008, at Plumbers & Steamfitters, 8801 E. Milner Ave., in Terre Haute.

The show begins at noon and will conclude at 10 p.m. Admission is $5 per person at the gate. Children 6 and under are FREE.

Food will be available for purchase, and there is plenty of room for the kids to run.

All proceeds from the all-day concert go to assist flood victims in the Wabash Valley.

Some of the bands or musicians scheduled to perform are as follows: Aaron Persinger, Abby Velez, Bobby Clark, Dismal Science, Entensity, LoWood, Nativemind, Philpot, TenStrip, and Pix & Stix.

Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and hang out for the afternoon and evening enjoying Terre Haute's very own "Flood-Aid" concert.
