Museum meeting, gala set

Sunday, July 6, 2008

The Putnam County Museum will hold its 7th Annual Meeting and Gala on Aug. 2. The event will be at the DePauw University Union Building Ballroom.

"The Gala is always a special event and gives museum supporters an opportunity to share in the success of the past year and look forward to the promise of the coming year," said board member Sally Gray. "And with the many treasures in the silent auction, it is not to be missed."

A noon luncheon meeting is planned, with the social hour and silent auction kicking the Gala off at 11 a.m.

Silent auction items include Peeler pieces, David Herrold and Gordon Walters art work, a scrimshaw cribbage board engraved on a walrus tusk, matching caned chairs, a shawl made by the Spinners & Weavers, a mink jacket, a custom made Cottage Gardens music box, and much, much more.

Mike Redmond, journalist and humorist who worked for the Indianapolis Star and who now writes for the Indianapolis Business Journal, will speak before the short business meeting and election of 2008-2009 officers.

Cost is $25 per person for members and $30 per person for non-members. Reservations must be made no later than July 28.

Checks should be mailed to the Museum, 1105 N. Jackson Street, Greencastle, IN 46135.
