William Steele

Mr. William Gabriel Steele, 61, of Greencastle, passed away Wednesday evening at his residence.

Born Dec. 7, 1946 in Quincy, he was the son of John J. and Catherine A. (Van derBol) Steele.

He was a 1965 graduate of Cloverdale High School. He served in the United States Army and Navy. He married Pamela Sue (Whitaker) Steele on May 24, 1980 and she survives.

Mr. Steele had been a truck driver for 31 years, having driven for the Mayflower and United Trucking Companies.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Elizabeth Schultz and husband Corey of Greenwood; four brothers, Francis "Jim" Steele and wife Pat of Cloverdale, Earl Steele and wife Diann of Campbell, Mo., Christopher Steele of Pattaya, Thailand, and Michael Steele of Brazil; a sister, Dorothy Hamblen and husband, Joe of Cloverdale; two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister Rose Mary Steele.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will be at the Forest Hill Cemetery.

Calling is 11 until service time on Saturday.
