Drunk drivers beware
Indiana State Police officers will conduct a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) checkpoint in Putnam County on Friday, Aug. 1. It will operate late Friday evening and early Saturday morning.
Officers will be looking for impaired, intoxicated and underage drinking drivers.
If you are stopped at the checkpoint, drivers are asked to have their license and registration ready to show officers. Motorists who are not in violation will only be detained a few minutes.
"The State Police area committed on removing intoxicated and impaired drivers from Indiana's roadways. We will be assigning extra officers to work the detail and also have a mobile saturation patrol I the area in the event someone attempts to elude the checkpoint," said Sergeant Cory Robinson.
To report an impaired driver, contact your local law enforcement agency or dial 911.
