North Putnam alumni game a success

Friday, August 15, 2008
Former North Putnam baseball coaches Brent Harmon (1995-2004), Jim Brothers (1985-1986), assistant coach Don Steward (1970-1972), Jerry Olson (1974-1977) and Jim Sharp (1970-1972) were on hand Saturday to throw out the ceremonial first pitches at the North Putnam Baseball Alumni game.

North Putnam High School hosted its inaugural alumni baseball game last Saturday. All told, the squads played three games, broken down by graduation year.

Representatives were on hand from the very first Cougar baseball team all the way through to a 2008 graduate.

The day's highlight was provided by Ryan Gruenholz, who hit a grand slam. Dominant pitching performances were turned in by Jake Mullis, Brayden Dahlstrom, Brian Carrington and Jordan Berry. Compliments go out to Matt Griswold, Shawn Berry and Levi Elliot for catching all day.

Through this event, the Baseball Alumni Association was able to raise $1,400 to go towards a scholarship fund and money for the program.
