Clifford seeking commissioner seat

Tuesday, August 26, 2008

Terry Clifford has announced his candidacy for Putnam County Commissioner in the November election.

Born and raised in the Belle Union area, Clifford now operates a farm and livestock trucking business with his family in Jefferson Township in Putnam County.

Clifford is running to address county infrastructure issues that he believes can no longer be delayed or ignored.

According to Clifford, "Our county roads are falling apart and band-aid fixes are not long term solutions. Getting back to basics will get our roads back in shape for the long term."

Clifford believes taking specific action by improving ditching and drainage practices alongside roadways will greatly improve road reliability and longevity into the future.

Additionally, Clifford believes that "Putnam County needs true accountability in getting value for every dollar spent. Where does all of our money go? Does every dollar spent truly better the county? I will bring accountability to Putnam County and back it up with truthful answers to the County citizens I will represent."

Clifford has been a member of the Indiana State Fair Staff since 1982, and is now a first assistant in the Swine Barn.

He is a past President of the Putnam County Sheriff's Merit Board, and a long standing member of New Providence Baptist church.

He and his wife Yvonne have five daughters, Karen, Sharon, Amanda Amber and Adrianna, and 8 grandchildren.

Clifford pledges to bring honesty, integrity and fiscal responsibility to the Putnam County Commissioners.
