Shipley named SCAC player of the week

Thursday, September 11, 2008

DePauw Senior goalkeeper Brooke Shipley has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for matches played between Sept. 1 and 7.

The honor was the third for Shipley in her career, as she previously earned the distinction once each in 2005 and 2006.

Despite dropping both weekend games by 1-0 scores to eighth-ranked Wittenberg and 12th-ranked Emory, Shipley recorded 19 saves.

She finished with nine saves in the Wittenberg game with the game-winning goal coming in overtime.

Shipley totaled 10 stops in the Emory contest with the lone goal coming on a penalty kick just shortly after she saved a previous penalty kick attempt.

The 1-3 Tigers return to action on Saturday, when they host Ohio Wesleyan at 5 p.m. at Boswell Field.
