Hughes leads Eagle golf to victory

BRAZIL -- The South Putnam girls' golf team picked up a win in its final regular-season match Thursday, defeating Tri-West 204-219 at Oak Ridge.

"It was a great way to end the regular season matches. The girls have worked hard and have made some big improvements," Eagle coach Debbie Steffy said.

Heather Hughes led the Eagles with a three-over 40. Cassie Warren was next with a 53, followed by Sarah Dobson's 56. Kelsey Searles was the final scorer for South with a 56.

Sarah Burnham also fired a 57 for the Eagles. Cierra Perry added a 59, and Jessie McKean had a 71.

"We are looking forward to Saturday and the conference meet," Steffy concluded.

The Eagles travel to Deer Creek at 11 a.m. today for the West Central Conference Tournament.
