Thursday, September 18, 2008

CLOVERDALE -- The Cloverdale girls' golf team defeated West Vigo Tuesday night at Clover Meadows 219-229.

Kayla Langdon was the medalist with a score of 45. Next was Elizabeth Wiley with a score of 51. Followed by Wiley was Victoria Boyette with a 54. Erica Looper finished with a score of 69.

"Kayla and Elizabeth were solid for us tonight and played seven out of nine holes well. But the stars of the meet were Victoria and Erica. We've known for some time that whatever success we have this season is closely related to how well Victoria and Erica play. Tonight they both played very well," said head coach Ken Williams.

This was the Clovers first match at home in three weeks, and they were 16 strokes better than any other home score this season. This was also a career best for Boyette and best home match score for Looper.

"A much needed win couldn't have come at a better time for us", coach Williams said.

The Clovers will get ready for county as they have their county match this Thursday at 4:30 p.m. in Clover Meadows.
