LIZTON -- The Cloverdale cross country teams visited Tri-West Thursday, earning a split with the Bruins, as the Clover girls won 19-36, but the boys lost 20-35.

Clover coach Katie McLaughlin said the girls ran well in their victory. She also liked what she got from the boys in spite of the loss.

"The boys lost but showed improvement," McLaughlin said.

Jenna Lewis led the Lady Clover effort with a first place in a time of 23:03. From there, the Clovers swept the third through sixth positions. Nikki Routh was third, followed, in order, by Megan Shwomeyer, Kayla Hegna and Sam Monnett.

For the boys, Kyle Chambers ran a 19:29, his best time of the year, to finish third. Brian Stout was next in fifth. Chuck Strunk placed ninth. James Murphy was tenth and Joe Fidler was just behind in 11th.
