Tiger Cubs lose to Patriots

Tuesday, September 23, 2008

The Greencastle volleyball team dropped another match against another tough opponent Monday evening, falling to Terre Haute North in three games at McAnally Center, 25-23, 25-20, 25-11.

While the Tiger Cubs (3-14, 0-2 WCC) were up against a much larger school in Terre Haute North, coach Trish Lowe refused to make excuses for her team following the loss.

"It is not the size of the dog in the fight; it's the size of the fight in the dog, and ours is a Maltese," Lowe said. "We have opportunities and then play afraid. We had game one and let it get away from us and then just seemed to give up. I am very disappointed in our efforts."

Mallory Miller led the Tiger Cubs with 12 points, three aces and 13 assists. Brooke Lewis picked up 20 digs. Kayla Nobles and Chelsea Samuels each had four kills. Samuels also picked up 14 blocks, including three stuffs.

Lowe is now looking toward the Tiger Cubs' next contest for some big steps forward.

"We have two days of practice to get some emotion back to play conference opponent Monrovia on Thursday.

The Tiger Cub JV also lost to the Patriots, 25-14, 25-9, moving its record to 2-13.

Greencastle hosts Monrovia at 6 p.m. Thursday.
