Pair may face charges

Two Indianapolis women may be facing charges of trafficking with an inmate at the Putnamville Correctional Facility.

Information concerning the actions of Shakeya Webb and Celdebra Sellers, both 20, has been forwarded to Putnam County Prosecutor Tim Bookwalter for review and possible charges. The allegations against the two women stem from an incident that occurred in April.

"Without the astute observation of staff, we may not have caught the individuals and exposed their criminal intent," said Michael J. Osburn, facility superintendent. "We will continue to be vigilant in deterring the introduction of narcotics and contraband into our facility."

According to a information from the Putnamville Correctional Facility, inmate Charles Archey, 22, of Indianapolis was found in possession of heroin and a cell phone following a visit with Webb in April.

"Webb was identified as the visitor who had trafficked heroin with Archey; however, she left the facility before staff was able to detain her," a release from the prison said.

Webb returned to visit Archey on Thursday. When she came to the prison, she allegedly presented prison staff with false identification.

"Correctional staff recognized her and immediately notified Internal Affairs, who contacted Indiana State Police," the release said.

Sellers drove Webb to the prison and also allegedly presented false identification to prison staff in an attempt to visit an offender.

"Both women were detained, and Detectives Deanna Jones and Jeff Hearon transported them to the Indiana State Police Post where they were questioned and released," the release said.

The information gleaned by the detectives was then sent on to Bookwalter, who will make a determination on whether or not criminal charges will be filed against Webb and Sellers.

Archey was charged with and found guilty of engaging in trafficking through the prison's disciplinary process.

He is serving time for convictions of Class B felony robbery and Class C felony carrying a handgun without a license. His projected release date is July 9, 2011.
