Caudill facing multiple charges

A Greencastle man is lodged in the Putnam County Jail after being charged with a multitude of offenses.

Homer Dee Caudill, 58, is set to be in Putnam County Circuit Court on Nov. 10 to face charges of Class C felony possession of a handgun without a permit, Class D felony identity deception, Class A misdemeanor possession of marijuana, Class A infraction driving while suspended and operating without insurance and Class C infraction no license in possession.

He is also wanted in Pennsylvania on a warrant for failure to appear on a fraud charge and in Hendricks County on an auto theft warrant.

A release from the Putnamville District of the Indiana State Police said Trooper Chris Harcourt "had received information that Caudill was wanted on a Pennsylvania warrant and has been seen in the area west of Greencastle operating a black 2002 Ford Explorer."

Harcourt and Trooper John Myers spotted Caudill driving the Explorer on Walnut Street shortly after, and initiated a traffic stop. Caudill was arrested without incident, the release said.

During the stop, Caudill was allegedly found to be in possession of another person's identification, a handgun for which he did not have a permit and what was believed to have been marijuana.

Putnam County Sheriff's Department Capt. Joe Myers said Caudill's bond has been set at $20,000 with 10 percent allowed. Should he not be able to bond out, Caudill will stay at the Putnam County Jail until his court date.

Class C felonies are punishable by up to three years in prison. Class D felonies can carry a maximum prison sentence of one year.
