Shane Huber, Patti Harmless, Fred Huber, Cari Cox and Pete Huber presented a check for money raised at A.A. Huber's annual golf outing. The money raised goes to Putnam County Youth Development Program (CASA), Putnam County Family Support Services and the Rachel and Jesse Thomas Scholarship Fund.

A.A. Huber and Sons have been raising money for non-profit and charitable organizations for nine years. Over that time period they have raised over $117,000.

The money from this year's event went to the Putnam County Family Services, Putnam County Youth Development Program (CASA) and the Rachel and Jesse Thomas Scholarship.

On Sept. 19, 17 teams of golfers put their irons to work at the Twin Bridges Golf Club in Danville. Each player paid $95 to enter the fundraising outing.

The idea for the tournament came after Fred Huber's wife, Elaine attended a sorority meeting where she heard that Putnam County Family Services needed help. She told Fred knowing he had a passion in helping less fortunate children.

"We already had an annual outing for our business associates so we decided to turn it into charity," said Shane Huber.

And, the tradition of an annual charitable golf outing was born.

Most of the players are vendors and business associates of Fred's sons, Shane and Pete Huber who also work for the family-owned business.

"Many of the people are vendors and business contacts with the majority of them being from Indianapolis. They are really good people," added Fred.

Even the employees of the company chip in and sponsor a hole at the event.

"We want to do all we can for these organizations. It's not enough, but every little bit helps," said Fred.

"We'd like to thank all the people who helped and participated with the golf outing," added Fred.

Individuals, families and companies participating in the golf outing included: Fred and Elaine Huber, Pete and Shane Huber and families, Steve Murray and family, David Carr Sr. and family and the field and office staff of A.A. Huber & Sons.
