Cougars struggle in WCC loss
ROACHDALE -- The North Putnam volleyball team struggled against Monrovia Tuesday evening, falling to the Bulldogs in three games, 25-15, 25-21, 26-24. Cougar coach Jill Schreiber was disappointed with her squad's performance.
"I do not feel we played our best volleyball. I felt Monrovia was a team we should have beaten," Schreiber said. "We played well at times and then other times we forgot what we were doing. There were balls dropping last night that usually do not drop. We get down the first two games and do not feel we can come back."
Taylor Alles led the Cougars on defense, with five blocks, two stuffs and 11 digs. Logan Doyle had five kills. Megan Gray and Danielle Harbison each collected seven assists. Harbison also had three aces.
Schreiber was positive about how far the Cougars (4-14, 0-4 WCC) have come this year, but emphasized that the work isn't over.
"We have improved a lot this season, but there is more improvement needed. We need to learn how to win and know we have the ability to win," Schreiber said. "We have some games coming up that should be good games for us. We should get some wins and gain our confidence back before sectionals."
North Putnam hosts Greencastle at 6 p.m. today.
