Eagles split with Cadets
The South Putnam cross country teams hosted Cascade on Wednesday night, picking up a win and a loss against the Cadets.
The Lady Eagles scored 20 points against an incomplete Cascade squad for the victory. The boys' team fell to the Cadets in a close one, 25-32.
In the girls' race, Cascade fielded just one runner, Justine Weatherman, who won the race in a time of 22:28.
Amanda Lund led the Eagle effort, with a second place finish in a time of 22:53. Madison Marsteller was next in third, followed by Mikayla Cherry in fourth. Brittany Fitzpatrick placed fourth, followed by Robbie Urton and Brittany Cox.
In the boys' race, the Cadets swept the top three positions, but the Eagles took seven of the next eight positions, making it a close meet in the end.
Luke Holt won the race for Cascade, finishing in 17:03.
Josh Olczak paced the Eagles, placing fourth in 18:49. Andrew Northrup was fifth, followed by Tyler Heavin in sixth. Paul Rubino was next for South, placing eighth, and Tanner Barr closed out the scoring in ninth.
South Putnam will have almost a week off before hosting the Putnam County Meet at 4 p.m. next Tuesday.
