Greencastle boys blank Cascade

The Greencastle boys' soccer team traveled to Clayton last night to take on Cascade in a key WCC match up. Both teams were 2-1 in conference play, each team having dropped their games to rival Speedway.

The Tiger Cubs easily handled the Cadets, winning 4-0 and improving their overall season record to 12-3. The win assured the Cubs of at least a second place finish in the WCC.

David Cath scored for the Greencastle squad with just a tick over one minute played (38:59), and the Tiger Cubs never let up.

Greg Lilly extended the advantage to 2-0, taking a pass from Cody Watson and beating the Cadet's keeper with 18:45 left on the clock.

Nate Jones added his first goal of the season with 4:30 remaining, assisted by Kyle Parker.

The score was 3-0 at the break.

The Tiger Cubs controlled play again in the second half and were able to substitute freely, with 18 players seeing action.

With 11:49 to play in the match, Watson put Greencastle ahead 4-0, finishing on a crossing pass from Spencer Moore.

The Tiger Cubs out shot the Cadets 22-2 in the match.

Greencastle will be back home at Dee Monnett Field at 5 p.m. Monday to battle with Owen Valley.

This will be the final home match of the season and the seniors will be recognized at halftime.
