'Snoopy' opens tonight at Greencastle High School

Snoopy and the entire Peanuts gang take to the stage at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday in Parker Auditorium (formerly MacAnally) in the musical "Snoopy" courtesy of Greencastle High School theatre program.

"Snoopy" is a follow-up to the musical "You're a Great Man, Charlie Brown." Play director, Bethany Girton says she chose "Snoopy" because of the innocent qualities and message, wonderful music and funny scenarios.

"This is the right play for this particular time in our country after the heated election we just experienced and the economic downturn we continue to endure. It allows the audience to escape from reality for a couple of hours," said Girton.

"Snoopy" showcases the talent of six GHS actors: Kenny Buchanan in the lead role of Snoopy; Andy Harrison as Charlie Brown; Ashley Smith as Lucy; Kullan Edberg as Peppermint Patty; Alix Green as Sally Brown; and Orion Ortiz as Linus. Also in major roles are Brockman Guinee as Woodstock and Ashley Holmes, Taylor Gannaway and Chelsea Simmons as Woodstock's flock. Sarah Dory plays Miss Othmar.

GHS choir teacher Carrie Hamilton is the music director and choreographer for the show.

Making up the chorus of neighborhood kids are (girls) Amelia Black, Portia Bingman, Emily Gill, Brittany Girton, Kelsey Grzesiek, Tess Handy, Katie Hedge, Alison Howard, Olivia Humphreys, Kristen Hutcheson, Megan Miller, Alice Moore, Lainey Poor, Kelsey Taylor, Kaila Thurston, Brooke Lewis and Kay Wood.

The neighborhood boys are Logan Grzesiek, Dalton Guyer, Dylan Harrison, Aaron Hunter, Cody Sheldon, Cy Spencer, Steven Turner, Nick Stevens and Graham Shuee.
