South Putnam girls' get win, boys' place third
LIZTON -- The South Putnam swim teams were in action Tuesday against Tri-West and Ritter. The girls' team won with a tally of 120, while the boys' placed third with 91 points.
The girls' squad captured six events on the night, including two relay races.
Tabitha Arnold won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:29.32, with Amanda Lund picking up a win in the 50-yard freestyle with her time of 29 seconds flat. Kate Sherwood was tops in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:20.17 and Jessica York won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:25.47.
The relay team of Sarah New, York, Sherwood and Lund won the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 2:17.63, while Arnold, Lund, Brittany Cox and Chelsea Vance captured the 400-yard freestyle relay in a time of 4:42.13.
For the boys', Sam Gould won diving honors with a dive total of 126.6, while Wes Albright won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:09.56, a full 24 seconds ahead of second place.
The boys' will be back in the pool Thursday at Greencastle beginning at 6 p.m., while the girls' will host Fountain Central Saturday at 10 a.m.
