Clifford James Malayer

Clifford James Malayer, 76, of Roachdale passed away Friday, Dec. 6, 2008 at the Putnam County Hospital.

He was born Sept. 24, 1932 in Roachdale to Burley E. and Veda Pearl Jones Malayer. He married Hazel Martin on Dec. 14, 1951 in Indianapolis and she survives.

Mr. Malayer was a retired livestock and grain farmer. He served on the Putnam County Hospital Board for 25 years and was a Putnam County Commissioner for eight years. His memberships included the Greencastle Masonic Lodge and Roachdale Baptist Church, where he was a former Deacon. He was also a Sunday School Teacher at the New Maysville Baptist Church for many years. He graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1950.

Other survivors include three daughters, Carolyn Farris of Greencastle, Donna Houser and husband Kenny of Bainbridge and Tammy Morrison and husband Troy of Indianapolis; sister Wilma Zimmerman of Brownsburg, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents and three brothers Wilfred, Jerry and John Malayer.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Dec. 10, at Roachdale Baptist Church at 11 a.m with Rev. Shannon Ivers officiating. Burial will be in New Maysville Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Church on Tuesday.
