Estal Ray Scobee

Estal Ray Scobee, 87, Greencastle, passed away Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008, at his residence.

Born July 8, 1921, in Cloverdale, he was the son of Raymond and Mary (Finney) "Mayme" Scobee.

He attended Putnamville schools and graduated from Reelsville High School class of 1937.

He married Doris (Thomas) Scobee Dec. 24, 1949 and she survives.

Mr. Scobee retired from the Putnamville Correctional Facility in 1992, having worked there as a correctional officer for 11 years. He had previously farmed in Putnam County for several years.

He was a United States Army veteran having served World War II. He was a member of the Putnamville United Methodist Church and attended the Sherwood Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Devon Scobee of Nappanee and John Scobee and his wife, Diana, of Greencastle; a sister, Jean Cundiff of Greencastle; and a brother, Lloyd Scobee and his wife, Georgia, of Tampa, Fla.

His parents and a brother, Cloyal Scobee, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 12, 2008, at the Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Staggers officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
