Christmas in Roachdale on Friday

Thursday, December 11, 2008

Carriage rides, a cookie walk, door prizes from merchants, food at the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and Santa Claus will all be part of Christmas in Roachdale this Friday.

"We're really happy to be showing off our new Christmas lights which we were able to purchase with a gift from an anonymous donor," said committee head Pat Allen.

"We just really, really appreciate this gift from whoever it was," she added.

Carriage rides will begin at 5 p.m. and be available until 8 p.m. Santa Claus will arrive at 6 p.m. at the VFW. A meal will also be served at the VFW from 6 to 8 p.m.

"Every merchant will be open and most will be offering door prizes. Both banks are giving away $50 gift certificates," said Allen.

The North Putnam High School choir will be performing and the cookie walk will take place earlier in the afternoon.

"We hope everyone will come out and enjoy our new lights and pots with the trees," noted Allen.

For information about the event call Allen at 522-1381.

  • Want some cheese with that wine? They'll probably do better when all the cry babies leave. I look forward to that day.
