CLINTON -- Led by double-digit scoring from three different players, the South Putnam girls' basketball team defeated South Vermillion 51-31 Tuesday night, to move its record to 3-4.

"We had a very good team effort tonight," said Eagle coach Debbie Steffy. "Everyone contributed in some way.

Freshman Brooke Boetjer led the Eagles, scoring 14 points while pulling down nine rebounds. Jessica Thompson and Emily Dabkowski each chipped in 10 points.

"We came out and shot the ball extremely well," Steffy said.

The Eagles outrebounded the Wildcats 38-32, with Leeah Butts and Oceaia Boetjer each adding six boards to the younger Boetjer sister's total of nine.

Oceaia Boetjer also had three assists on the evening.

The Eagle JV also won, defeating the Wildcats 28-25.

South Putnam opens its WCC schedule tonight when it hosts Cascade at 6 p.m. in the first half of a doubleheader.
