Cascade edged South Putnam 51-48 Friday night.

A major part of the first quarter was turnovers by both teams. However, very aggressive play, both offensively and defensively, by the Cadets allowed them an eight point lead.

The ability to cut off passes helped along with using bounce passes to avoid being picked off.

However, missed shots and fouls allowed the Eagles to cut that lead to five before the end of the quarter. The score was 16-11.

The second quarter started with two Cascade turnovers and a South Putnam timeout. Cascade came out of the timeout in a full court press. This along with the bounce pass once again helped the Cadets lead 33-19 going into halftime.

After halftime, South Putnam came alive and shut down Cascade on both ends of the court. Oceaia Boetjer shot a last second three point shot to tie the game at 36-all going into the fourth and final quarter.

The fourth quarter started with turnovers for both teams. With 5:01, South Putnam called a timeout to settle their girls, while they had cut Cascade lead to only one point.

However, Cascade wasn't thinking about settling down.

They took advantage of every missed scoring opportunity and missed rebound by the Eagles to boost their lead to three.

At 1:46, the Eagles called a full timeout to deal with the frustrations of the Cadets coming back and taking a 46-41 lead. However, that wouldn't be enough to stop the Cadets. They picked up the win 51-48. Key players for the Eagles were Oceaia Boetjer, Brooke Boetjer, and Jessica Thompson.
