Ellen Jane Nichols

Ellen Jane Nichols, 85, of Bainbridge passed away Monday, Dec. 15, 2008 at her son's residence.

Born May 3, 1923 in Sellersburg, she was the daughter of Paul R. and Flaura Hurst Salmon. She was a graduate of Fillmore High School class of 1941 and Central Business College. She married Herschel Nichols on March 3, 1946 and he preceded her in death January 1989.

Mrs. Nichols had been a homemaker. She was a member of the Fillmore Christian Church and the Christian Women's Fellowship.

Survivors include her daughter, Diana Anderson and husband Pat of Ava, Mo.; two sons, John Nichols of Groveland and James Nichols and wife Sandra of Bainbridge; eight grandchildren, Christopher Canada and wife Sheilia, Deborah Williams and husband Bob, Chad Canada and wife Sandra, Gabriel Canada and wife Bethany, Pamela Nichols, Carrie Kayser and husband Tony, Laurie Nichols and Jennie Nichols; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant brother James Edward Salmon and infant sister Virginia Lea Salmon.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 19 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home with the Revs. Mike Faust and Dan Royer officiating. Burial will be in the Fillmore Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.
