Mary Ann Rice

Mary Ann Rice, age 88, of Franklin passed away Friday, Dec. 12, 2008.

She was born Sept. 20, 1920 in Putnam County, the daughter of Otto and Hertha Lydick Hand.

Mrs. Rice was a 57-year member of Groveland Eastern Star and a member of North Terre Haute Christian Church. She had been employed with Abstract and Title Insurance.

She had also lived in Florida for 20 years and loved playing shuffleboard, euchre and to walk and be active.

Survivors include her daughter, Kay Cottrell and husband Charles of Terre Haute; granddaughter Christina Reid and husband Wilbur; grandson Chad Cottrell; great-grandchildren Chelsea Reid, Kerri Reid, Kayleigh Reid, Chad Cottrell Jr. and Larry Cottrell; and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Percy Rice, sister Dee Hand, sister-in-law Maybelle Rice and nephew Jon Rice.

Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 22 at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home in Terre Haute with Rev. Stuart Powell officiating. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Coatesville. Groveland Eastern Star will also conduct a service.

If friends desire, they may make memorial contributions to North Terre Haute Christian Church Flood Restoration Fund.
