Robert Briggs

Robert E. Briggs, 71, of Martinsville died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008 at Morgan Hospital & Medical Center, Martinsville.

Mr. Briggs was born My 9, 1937, in Indianapolis to Floyd E. and Bertha May (Sims) Briggs Barnes. He was married to Sandra J. Comer on March 20, 1959, and she survives.

He was a car technician for John Dailey Motors in Martinsville and later for Weliever Olds Pontiac in Martinsville. He retired in 1994.

He enjoyed his grandchildren and cars.

Also surviving are four sons, Robert L. Briggs of Brooklyn, Eric E. Briggs of Mooresville, Blake E. Briggs of Martinsville and Carey A. Briggs of Morgantown; two daughters, Teresa D. Hunt and Elisa J. Wilson, both of Martinsville; his mother in Martinsville; a brother, Jack Briggs of Florida; a sister, Della Maxine Dill of Colorado; 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

His father and three grandchildren preceded him in death.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Costin Funeral Chapel, Martinsville, with the Rev. Mark Suter officiating. Calling will be Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Nebo Park Cemetery, Martinsville.
