The Rev. Harley L. Weir, 82, of Terre Haute died at Terre Haute Regional Hospital on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009.

He was born in Vigo County on March 3, 1926 to John and Margaret Moody Weir. He married Naomi Stout on Oct. 30, 1946, and she survives.

He was Pastor Emeritus of Christ Temple Church.

Mr. Weir joined the US Navy during World War II, serving as a pharmacist's mate. After his discharge, he attended Brown's Business College and also was working as a pharmacist at Dawson and Meagher Drug Store for many years.

While working there, he was called into the Pentecostal ministry, was ordained in 1958 and pastored Christ Temple Church for 13 years, from 1960 to 1973. He was affiliated with several Pentecostal ministerial associations.

During this same time period, he was a pharmaceutical buyer for E.H. Bindley & Co. After his retirement, he then worked at the former Meis Brothers in the men's department and for Nancy's Nutrition Center.

He is also survived by his daughter Shelia Weir of Terre Haute; two sons, Dennis Weir and wife Vicky of Greencastle and Gary Weir and wife Jennifer of Terre Haute; brother Rev. Merrill Weir and wife Sue; sister Mae St. John; grandchildren Jonathan Weir, Tonia Dibble, Heidi Madsen and Olivia Weir; great-grandchildren Kaitlyn Dibble, Lauren Dibble and Jeremiah Weir; step-great-grandchildren Britney Dibble and Seth Madsen; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at Christ Temple Church, 2311 Locust St., Terre Haute on Saturday at 1 p.m. with Rev. Merrill Weir and Rev. Merrill Weir Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park with military honors given by VFW #972.

Calling will be at the church from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday.
