John W. Fitzpatrick

John W. Fitzpatrick, 47, of Greencastle died Monday, Dec. 8, 2008 after battling a long-term illness.

Born June 6, 1961 in Chicago, he was the son of Thomas D. and Jeanne Hinkle Fitzpatrick. He was a 1979 graduate of Greencastle High School. He also graduated from Purdue University in 1984, where he received a bachelor of science degree in criminology and played football.

Mr. Fitzpatrick had been a scout for 20 years with the Minnesota Vikings in the National Football League.

Survivors include his parents, brother Tom Fitzpatrick and wife Mary of Weyauwega, Wisc.; nephews Michael and Trevor Fitzpatrick and a niece Grace Fitzpatrick.

A memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 202 East Washington Street, with Father Stephen Jarrell as celebrant. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at Forest Hill Cemetery.
