Cloverdale under boil order until further notice

Monday, January 12, 2009

CLOVERDALE -- A water main break in Cloverdale on Saturday has put the town under a boil order until further notice.

According to utility department manager Don Guthrie, the main break on Saturday caused some residents to have low water pressure and others to be without water. IDEM regulations require that a boil order be issued under these circumstances.

Guthrie said samples were collected on Sunday and are to be collected again today. If the tests come back clean, the order will be lifted.

"We have the order until further notice, but we're hoping it can be taken off Wednesday. I can't guarantee that; we'll have to wait on the samples," Guthrie said.

Cloverdale water customers should boil water for five minutes before drinking or cooking with it.

  • Cloverdale officials should have notified the Banner and the residents.

Cloverdale should require their employees to live in Cloverdale city limits or within 2 miles.

  • Why weren't we notified? Why wasn't it run at the bottom of the screen on the TV channels? It happened on Saturday and the first we know of it is Monday!!!! I've been drinking my water straight from the tap. YUM!

  • I had no idea either. I'm glad they finally thought to notify everyone. But some people don't read the paper either.

  • Several things...first of all to Old Man its a good thing we allow employees to live out of city limits b/c if it werent for a certain gentleman that knows way more than the Town Manager we would all be in trouble. Thank you, you know who you are!! I know the Fire Dpt went around very quickly Saturday eve and told the local restaurants. Thank you for your quick response!
