Cynthia Van Tassel Yeo, 61, of Zionsville died Dec. 30, 2008.

Mrs. Yeo was a 1970 graduate of DePauw University, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, and where she honed her artistic skills as painting became her avocation and later, her vocation.

In 1971 she married Thomas S. Yeo, and he survives.

The couple moved to New York, where Mr. Yeo was a buyer for Lord and Taylor. Mrs. Yeo had been in a training program at L.S. Ayres and Company; she became a buyer at B. Altman.

The Yeos commuted from their home in Sneeden's Landing on the Hudson River, where Cynthia later opened a studio.

The Yeos then moved to Indiana. They lived in Zionsville for almost 30 years. For the last two decades Mrs. Yeo maintained a painting studio in Zionsville known as the Artists' Loft with four artist friends.

She was a member of the Hoosier Salon, the Indiana Watercolor Society, and the Brown County Art Guild. She had shown at juried art shows at the Hoosier Salon, Southside Art Guild, the Indiana State Fair, the Brown County Art League, and has had several featured shows of her work at the Munce Art Center in Zionsville.

She served as a member of the Indianapolis Garden Club, Woodstock Club where she golfed and played tennis, and the Dramatic Club. She was also a member of Second Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis.

Also surviving are three children, Betsy Yeo, Ted Yeo, and Charlie Yeo and his wife Stacey; a grandson, William S. Yeo; parents Dr. Charles and Marge Van Tassel; a brother Dr. James Van Tassel, and his wife Liz.

Services were held in Indianapolis.
