Ballroom dance studio comes to Greencastle
Stephanie Neeper has opened up the Greencastle School of Ballroom Dance inside The Dance Workshop on Jackson Street in downtown Greencastle.
Neeper has been dancing for six years. She already offers ballroom dancing at her studio space in Indianapolis.
"I'm so excited to be offering ballroom dancing to Putnam County residents. They can take lessons here or in Indianapolis. It's just so much fun to dance," she said.
Neeper moved to Greencastle last October to be with family. Her mother Katie Wallace is also a professional dancer and is well known at the Putnam County Playhouse.
Neeper teaches groups, individuals, couples, kids and people preparing for weddings. She offers the classes seven days a week, by appointment only.
"To run a business you have to be flexible because people are so busy these days," she said.
To get started with dance lessons people are invited to attend an introductory class at a cost of $35 per couple or $35 for an individual.
"You don't need a partner. It's great if you have one but I have had to learn to dance both the male and female steps in order to teach so I can partner with anyone," said Neeper.
That $35 gets you either two 30-minute lessons or one hour-long session.
"From there, based on what dances you want to learn, I give a tuition cost per dance. That cost varies from person to person," she said.
Neeper is offering Ballroom dance lessons at The Dance Workshop owned and operated by Tara Gardner. It is located at 10-12 Jackson Street in downtown Greencastle. Lessons can also be taken at Riolo, at 502 N. Capitol Ave. in downtown Indianapolis.
