Tigers continue to roll with 76-44 win

Wednesday, January 21, 2009

The DePauw University Tigers men' basketball team hosted Colorado College in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference game at Neal Fieldhouse Sunday afternoon.

DePauw completely dominated Colorado in every aspect of the game, earning the Tigers' seventh straight win, 76-44.

The Tigers scored eight points before Colorado got on the score board four minutes into the game.

DePauw's offense would go on to score 43 points in the first half, while the Tiger defense limited Colorado to 14 points at halftime.

The Tigers cruised to victory in the second half as DePauw head coach Bill Fenlon substituted freely during the remainder of the game.

DePauw defeated Colorado in every aspect of the game, 45 percent versus 28 percent shooting from the floor, 85 percent versus 79 percent shooting from the free throw line, and rebounding, 46 versus 20.

"We were really ready to go at the start of the game," commented Fenlon after the game.

"We were good defensively, but not quite as good defensively in the second half.

"One of the things that happens when you get a big lead, is you start trying different combinations of guys who haven't played as much, and it's hard to keep your concentration," added Fenlon.

DePauw was led in scoring by Mike Moore and Steve Lemasters with game-high 14 points each.

Tom Callen followed with 10, Erik Hagen added eight points, Sean Haseley and Joe Bergfeld each had seven, Tony James scored six, Drew Willis had four points, Ryan Russell added three, Ryan Sever had two points and Tommy Weakley closed out the DePauw scoring with one point.

Callen led the DePauw in rebounds with a game-high nine boards, Callen and Gray each had a blocked shot, James passed for a game-high four assists, had a game-high four steals.

The Tigers (12-4, 5-1 SCAC) travel to Jackson, Mississippi Friday night to play Millsaps in a SCAC game. The game begins at 6:00 CST.
