Funds available to GHS grads

Thursday, January 29, 2009

Greencastle High School Alumni Scholarships are once again being offered this year.

Applications are available from the Greencastle High School guidance counselor or the Putnam County Community Foundation.

The GHS Alumni Scholarship Fund has awarded over 60 scholarships to GHS graduates since its inception in 1995. The fund is housed at the Putnam County Community Foundation, and only the interest is used for scholarships, so the fund will continue into perpetuity. A $50 donation to the scholarship fund gives the contributor a year's membership to the Alumni Association, and the contribution can be made in memory or honor of any individual the giver chooses.

Applications are considered from any GHS graduate who attended Greencastle High School for at least two years and is enrolled in an accredited college or other approved institution. Equal weight is given to the applicant's scholarship, citizenship and need.

Applicants will be considered no matter what year they graduated.

The due date for applications is April 1. Recipients are eligible to apply or re-apply for this scholarship during their undergraduate college term. At least two scholarships are given to graduating seniors each year.

More information about the association and the scholarship can be found online at www.greencastlealumni.org
