Collegiate bicycle races at several locations in March
Over 300 participants are expected for the DePauw Bicycle Club race on Sunday, March 8 at Big Walnut Sports.
This is the second year for the event that showcases the park and hopefully brings visitors to town.
The race will be run on a course around and through the sports park, using the newly paved access road, CR 275 E, CR 150 S and the west park access road. One-way traffic access will be available to local residents.
Bicyclists will be on the roadways between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
On Saturday, March 7 the group will be racing at Heritage Lake from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Starting at the Floyd Township Volunteer Fire Department, this race will end at the dam. No streets will be closed during this event but motorists are asked to be careful in the area.
The DePauw Bicycle Club has put on this race for four years and has had great results.
The group will also have a timed race on CR 100 N for 60 minutes on Saturday. This event is headquartered at the Dixie Chopper plant. Groups of two to four cyclists will run separately for this event. No roads will be closed during this race.
