Ruby M. Everman, 94, of Roachdale died on Monday, Feb. 23, 2009 at Mill Pond Health Campus in Greencastle.

She was born on Nov. 14, 1914 in Roachdale to Orville and Goldie Woodrum Perkins. She graduated from Roachdale High School and Central Normal Teachers College in Danville. She married Everett Leon Everman on Feb. 28, 1942 in Hattiesburg, Miss. He preceded her in death on Oct. 5, 2007.

While going to college, she worked as a telephone operator in Roachdale. She taught elementary school in North Salem and Roachdale for 40 years and substituted after that for 20 years.

Mrs. Everman was a member of the Roachdale Presbyterian Church and Roachdale Order of Eastern Star, where she served as Worthy Matron and secretary for many years. She also was a past district deputy and a grand representative for the Indiana Grand Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include her son Phillip Everman and wife Marlene Kay of Roachdale, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death was brother Cecil Perkins.

Services will be on Thursday at 1 p.m. at Servies and Morgan Funeral Home with the Rev. Alan Small officiating. Burial will be at Roachdale Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home. There will be an Eastern Star Service at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Online condolence may be made at serviesmorgan.com
