Nationally-known fundraising speaker coming to Greencastle

Nationally-known non-profit consultant Phil Purcell of the Ball State Foundation will be coming to Greencastle on March 16 to present a workshop entitled "Fundraising: Focusing on the Annual Gift."

This workshop is a part of the Putnam County Community Foundation's Non-Profit Learning Series, which is geared toward community members who staff or volunteer with non-profit organizations and wish to build capacity in areas of fundraising, governance, marketing and more.

This workshop will explore focusing on individual donors to acquire annual gifts for non-profits. This workshop will be held at Area 30 Career Center from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with lunch catered by Almost Home.

The cost to attend is $10 per person and includes lunch and training materials. This normally expensive workshop is being offered at a reasonable price due in large part to the foundation's corporate sponsor for the month, First Financial Bank.

"During these tough economic times, all non-profits should be diversifying their fundraising efforts and the annual gift is an import piece to the puzzle," said Eric Wolfe, director of community development at the community foundation. "This workshop should prove to be a valuable tool to any non-profit volunteers or staff who might attend, and Phil Purcell is a veteran in his field for this type of fundraising."

The Putnam County Community Foundation administers more than 170 funds and has issued more than $1.75 million in grants since inception.

It is a public charity established in 1985 to serve donors, award grants, and conduct community development to enrich the quality of life in Putnam County.
