Esta Mae Byrd

Esta Mae Byrd, 91, of Mooresville, formerly of Greencastle, died Thursday, March 12, 2009 at the Meadow Lakes Senior community in Mooresville.

Born Oct. 11, 1917 in Broad Park, she was the daughter of Burnace and Lula Buis Pritchard. She was a 1935 graduate of Greencastle High School. She married Kenneth J. Byrd and he preceded her in death on June 22, 1977.

Mrs. Byrd had been a buyer and in sales at the Prevo Department Store in Greencastle. She was a former home economics club member.

Survivors include her daughters, Phyllis Larrouy and husband Francis of Spokane, Wash., Patsy Valente and husband Joseph of Spokane, Susan Paris and husband Mel of Mooresville and Barbara Smythe of Vancouver, Wash.; brother Conard Pritchard of Dixon, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a brother, Burnace "Pritch" Pritchard Jr.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home with Chaplain George Watkins officiating. Burial will be in the Fillmore Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until time of service.
