Red Cross says 'thanks' after chili supper

Wednesday, March 18, 2009

To the Editor:

The American Red Cross Wabash Valley Chapter, Putnam County Unit would like to extend our sincerest thanks to all that made this year's Chili Supper a huge success. Money raised will be used to assist families that have been affected by home fires right here in Putnam County. Thanks to our signature sponsor The Waters for preparing and providing the Chili as well as the street banner, Delta Theta Tau for providing and preparing the deserts, to DJ Mike Welsh for providing our entertainment, and to the National Guard for allowing us the use of their Armory building and kitchen.

A big thanks to our supporting and serving restaurants which included Bert & Betty's Kitchen, The Fairway Family Restaurant, Putnam Inn, Treasures on the Square, Mama Nunz, Cavern Cove, and the BonTon. Alpha Phi Omega of DePauw also prepared and served Chili at a university event.

Our silent auction was again very successful thanks to the donated items from Cloverdale Inn and Holiday Inn Select, Bittles & Hurt, Jameson Coffee, Judy Miller Embroidery, Humphreys Outdoor Power, Indianapolis Indians, Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Pacers, Conner Prairie, Purdue Sports, Indiana Beach Amusement Resort, Holiday World & Splashin' Safari, Holiday Inn North & Caribbean Cove Waterpark, Indiana State Museum, Deer Creek Golf Club, Heartland Crossing Golf Course, and the Indiana Hoosier Lottery.

Also thanks to Boy Scout Troop #99 for presentation of the colors and Olivia Humphreys for singing the star spangled banner; and to the Banner Graphic for their awesome event coverage.

Of course, no event is successful without those that attend in support of our worthwhile cause. To you we express not only our thanks for attending, but our thanks for supporting the mission of The American Red Cross Wabash Valley Chapter.
