Arrest warrant requested for Terre Haute man

Wednesday, April 22, 2009

The Putnam County Prosecutor's Office has filed requests to revoke the probation and issue a warrant for the arrest of a Terre Haute man.

Kyle L. Poynter, 20, has been charged in Vigo County Superior Court V with Class A misdemeanor carrying a handgun without a license -- a violation of his Putnam County probation, which he is on for two separate charges.

Poynter was sentenced in Putnam County Circuit Court on Feb. 21, 2008 to a four-year Indiana Department of Corrections term with two years executed and two years served on home detention on a Class C felony burglary charge.

Poynter admitted to stealing a laptop computer from a home in the 600 block of Walnut Street in Greencastle in August 2007.

With time served, Poynter did not serve any time in prison and was immediately committed to home detention.

Poynter violated the terms of his home detention when he was charged with Class A misdemeanors domestic battery and conversion on Aug. 20, 2008. On Dec. 19, 2008, Poynter was sentenced to time served on the domestic battery charge and the conversion charge was dismissed.

The courts have listed previous addresses for Poynter in Brazil, Fillmore and Bainbridge.
