GMS softball gets win

The Greencastle Middle School softball team has begun its season and currently holds a record of 1-1.

On April 15, the Tiger Cubs fell to Southmont in 4-3. Alex Basile pitched six innings with seven strikeouts and two walks. Basile also went 3-for-4 at the plate with an RBI.

Kaytlynn Beaman was 3-for-4 with one run scored, with Tristan French adding two hits and an RBI. Rayleigh Amis was 1-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.

Taylor Stoltey scored a run, while Jessi Covert reaching on a walk.

GMS recorded its first win of the season Wednesday, defeating Danville 9-4.

Basile pitched six innings and collected a whopping 15 strikeouts. At the plate, she was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Harriett Watson was 1-for-4 at the plate with a triple and two RBIs, while Garner Cox was 1-for-2 with an RBI. Tera Amis was 1-for-4 at the plate with a double.

Covert and French were 1-for-2 at the plate with an RBI each, while Beaman scored two runs and Miranda Nuz added a run.
