Ellsworth launches online grants workshop

Monday, April 27, 2009

Congressman Brad Ellsworth has launched an online grants workshop to help organizations, small business, community organizations and local government officials learn more about the federal grants process.

The online workshop is a result of several Federal Grants Workshops hosted by Ellsworth recently.

"The workshops were so popular with nearly 600 Hoosiers attending, that I decided to launch an online grants workshop for those who were unable to attend," said Ellsworth in a recent letter.

"Every year the federal government awards billions of dollars I grant and loan money to businesses and organizations throughout the country. I want to see more of those dollars come to communities in Indiana," he said.

The online workshop teaches the basics of identifying an applying for federal grants and loans, as well as information on programs and services designed specifically for small business owners and rural organizations.

While online interested people can sign up for Ellsworth's Grants Resources On the Web (GROW) newsletter which provides subscribers with a regularly updated list of available grants from the Federal government and non-governmental organizations.

Grants.gov is the encyclopedia of grants.

The Web site covers everything from the Recovery Act, lists specific departments of different industries and provides users with weekly updates of new money available.
